Junley L. Lazaga is a poet, translator, and scholar based in Baguio City. He has edited and translated important titles in Ilokano literature, and his own poems in Ilokano have been published in various literary journals and have won awards in different literary competitions.
After finishing his basic education in Tagudin, Ilocos Sur, where he was born and raised, Lazaga pursued and obtained both his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Language and Literature at the University of the Philippines (UP) Baguio, where he also currently teaches courses in literature, creative writing, and translation studies as an Associate Professor of Literature. He also holds the distinction as the first to have been conferred by UP the title of University Artist for Literary Arts, as well as other awards and grants from the university for his poetry, translation work, and teaching.
Lazaga is a founding member of the Ubbog Cordillera Writers and past president of the Baguio Writers Group. He is currently with the board of the Philippine Center of International PEN. He is married to Janine Kaye C. Toca-Lazaga, and is a father of two children.
