Emmanuel T. Barrameda is a Caloocan-born fictionist and essayist in Filipino currently based in Virac, Catanduanes.

He cites Lualhati Bautista, Rene O. Villanueva, and Genoveva Edroza Matute as influences on his writing. He was also able to join several writing programs and workshops, such as the Palihang Rogelio Sicat in 2014, the 13th Ateneo National Writers Workshop in 2015, the 59th University of the Philippines National Writers Workshop in 2020, and the Iyas La Salle National Writers’ Workshop in 2022. He is a member of the writing group Kataga.

Barrameda has already published three books: P’wera Bisita, which won in the 38th National Book Awards for Best Short Fiction Collection in Filipino; Balager, which won in the 39th National Book Awards for Best Nonfiction Prose in Filipino; and Distrungka.

Aside from the National Book Awards, Barrameda’s works have also been recognized in the Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature: his short story “Nando” won third prize in the Maikling Kwento category in 2014, while “Bangkera” won second place in the same category in 2016.

A teacher by profession, Barrameda graduated from the Philippine Normal University, where he finished Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education, major in Filipino.
