Rommel F. Bonus is a writer, singer-songwriter and composer, visual artist, and teacher from Antipolo.

Bonus was among the fellows of the University of Santo Tomas National Writers Workshop in 2020, as well as the 62nd University of the Philippines (UP) National Writers Workshop in 2023. He is also a member of the Linangan sa Imahen, Retorika, at Anyo.

An awarded writer in fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry, Bonus’ creative non-fiction collection Ilang Bitbit sa Pagsagip sa Sarili was published in 2018 and was one of the finalists in the 2020 and 2021 Madrigal-Gonzalez First Book Award of the of the Likhaan: UP Institute of Creative Writing. In 2021, he also garnered the grand prize of the Philippine National University’s Normal Awards for Nobelang Kabataan and an honorable mention from Lampara Books’ Lampara Prize for Middle Grade Novel — both for his unpublished novels for young readers.

He has won first prize in the Tula category of the Saranggola Blog Awards in 2017 for his poetry collection Kara(tula), and the first prize in the Gawad Rogelio Sicat in 2019 for his short story “Mga Tala at Panimulang Pagninilay sa Pitong Araw Kasama ang Cofradia Cuatro Persona Y Rizal.”

Bonus teaches social sciences, literature, and philosophy subjects as a college instructor. He is completing his Master of Arts in Malikhaing Pagsulat degree at UP Diliman.
