The UP National Writers Workshop (UPNWW) aims to help writers who have already published (or are on the verge of publishing) a book or have won major literary awards, in further honing their craft. It is complemented by the Amelia LapeΓ±a-Bonifacio Writers Workshop (ALBWW) for young and emergent writers.

Ramon Guillermo is the director of the Center for International Studies, University of the Philippines Diliman. He is the author of the book βTranslation and Revolution: A Study of Jose Rizalβs Guillermo Tellβ (Ateneo de Manila University Press, 2009) which uses computational techniques to undertake the first analysis of Rizalβs translation of Schillerβs play. Aside from writing essays and reflections on translation and translation theory, he is also a practicing translator. He has translated works by Karl Marx, Walter Benjamin, Pramoedya Ananta Toer, Tan Malaka, Tran Duc Thao, among others, into Filipino. He is a fellow of the UP Institute of Creative Writing (ICW) in UP as well as an affiliate at the UP Intelligent Systems Center (ISC).
