Kenneth Michael M. Baba

Kenneth Michael M. Baba is currently earning his Juris Doctor degree at the University of Newcastle, Australia. He earned his bachelor’s degree in political science, Cum Laude, from the University of the Philippines Cebu. He is a member of Bathalan-ong Halad sa Dagang (Bathalad) and has participated in several capacities as fellow, moderator and panelist in several regional creative writing workshops. He has published several articles, essays, poems, and short stories in Manila Bulletin’s Bisaya Magasin, where he was adjudged as “Labing Masaarong Bag-ong Magsusuwat sa Tuig 2019” (Most Promising Young Writer of the Year 2019). Also, in the same year, he was selected as one of the delegates to the National Commission on Culture and the Arts’ (NCCA) annual TABOAN National Writers Festival, and his poems appeared in its UBOD 2020 anthology and Agwat-Hilom 2022 subsequently. He bagged the second place in Editorial Writing at 77th National Student Press Convention and 39th Biennial Student Press Congress of the College Editors Guild of the Philippines (CEGP). He is also an active contributor in the opinion section of Sunstar Cebu. He completed his term as the Editor-in-Chief of Tug-ani, the official student publication of UP Cebu, and Chairperson of TINTA, the official creative writing organization of the same institution. In 2023, he was invited by the Ormoc Tourism Office to be a resource speaker on their Arts Month’s Balik-Ugmad sa Ormocanong Balak. He taught Research and Reading & Writing at the Sacred Heart School – Ateneo de Cebu for a semester. He is currently away from his dog, Versailles and his black cats, Berlin and Warsaw.
