Harvey James G. Castillo earned his B.A. in Literature (magna cum laude, salutatorian) from the University of Santo Tomas, and his M.A. in Philippine Studies from the University of the Philippines Diliman. He worked as a college faculty at Don Bosco Mandaluyong and works as an instructor at the Filipino Department of the Ateneo de Manila University. He was awarded the Palanca Awards for Literature in 2014 for the Kabataan Essay, and the Gawad USTetika in 2017 for the personal essay, short story, and poetry. His creative writing revolves around his experiences growing up in Quezon City. His research works revolve around urban and spatial studies, class analysis, and graffiti and latrinalia as minoritarian/proletarian texts. Some of his writings are accessible online and on print at Humanities Diliman, Katitikan journal, Takos anthology, Luntian journal, Philippine Panorama, and LIGÁW anthology. He also works as a copyeditor and proofreader of the Ateneo de Manila University’s Katipunan journal.
