Ian Jay Formacion

Mr. Formacion completed his BSED in Filipino (Culture and the Arts awardee) at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Valenzuela in 2015 and earned a Master of Arts in Filipino from the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in 2018. Currently, he is pursuing a PhD in Philippine Studies at the University of the Philippines-Diliman. He wrote ‘Ang Hinihintay Naming…’ produced by Tanghalang Pilipino, ‘Ang Habilin ni Lola Liwanag that has been chosen as one of the selected short films in Singapore for Asia Rising 2022, and ‘Lunas’ produced by De La Salle University Manila’s Harlequin Theater Guild, as well as ‘Nueve’ and ‘Huling Huli’ Tanghalang Banyuhay. His documentary film ‘Kurba’ (2022) and ‘Kwentong Puto’ (2023) under Banyuhay Events and Productions were both Grand Finalist and won Peoples Choice Award in DokyuBata. He is a versatile performer that has been a prominent spoken word artist with the 2O7 Collective since 2018 and a dancer at Ragguhddest – Dancehall Valenzuela since 2023. With a rich history in theater, they have acted in productions such as Salahedanggana, Huling Paraiso, and River Lethe, and have also performed with Team Gen and Party with Jive. He was awarded as one of the Outstanding Researcher of the Year on the first Instabright National Awards for Educators (2020), Best Research Presenter in International Research Conference Presentation organized by Instabright Publication (2019), Best Research Presenter and Best Research Output in 7th International Special Study Series and Conferment Ceremony organized by Royal Institute Singapore (2017). He has participated in various writing workshops and research conferences, including the Valenzuela Writers’ Workshop in 2020 and the DLSU Young Screenwriters’ Workshop in 2022, Speech Communication Conference: Freedoms of Speech in Asia (2023), and IFTR Manila Conference 2024 that held at UP Diliman. He is an active member of The Writers Bloc, Tanghalang Banyuhay’s Artistic Council, and serves as the Education Chairperson, and Vice-Chairperson for Workshop of Valenzuela Arts and Literary Society, and President of 2O7 Collective
