Marielle Fatima Tuazon is a Filipina writer in English, Filipino, and Spanish currently pursuing her MFA in Creative Writing at De La Salle University Manila. She graduated Magna cum laude in her BA Philippine Studies degree from the University of the Philippines-Diliman, majoring in Creative Writing and History. She also holds a Sertipiko sa Malikhaing Pagsulat sa Filipino from the same university. She has bylines in various publications like PhilStar L!fe, Esquire Philippines, Panorama: The Journal of Travel, Place, and Nature, among others.
She was a Creative Nonfiction fellow in the 61st Silliman University National Writers Workshop. At the age of 17, she was awarded Third Prize in the 67th Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature, Kabataan Essay English category, “The Pursuit of Lucidity.” She publishes some of her work online on Substack as mariellewritesalot and through zines with the Bad Seed Collective. She usually writes nonfiction on the rawness of human experience, but occasionally publishes in other genres.
From 2023 to 2025, she lived in Spain as an Auxiliar de Conversación, teaching English in the secondary level of the public school system in Sevilla and Zaragoza. She was the 15th President of the cause-oriented and university-wide organization, UP Children’s Rights Advocates League (UP CRAdLe). In her freshman year, she wrote news and features for the Philippine Collegian. She was also a member of other organizations: UP Broadcasters’ Guild, UP Sandigan para sa Ikauunlad ng Kamalayang maka-Araling Pilipino (UP SIKAP), and UP Circulo Hispanico.
