Randy Quilloy Villanueva is a screenwriter, poet, playwright, artist, and filmmaker who received First Prize in the 2023 Palanca Awards for his one-act play “Neneng,” and another First Prize in the 2021 Premyong LIRA for his collection of poems “Galugad: Mga Salmo sa Pagkagat ng Dilim.” He was accepted as a Fellow in the 63rd UP National Writers Workshop in 2024. He also participated in the FDCP Creative Incubation Workshop for Screenwriters in the same year.
Since 2000, he has been writing scripts for television and served as the head writer for shows like “Kagat ng Dilim,” “Midnight DJ,” “Barrio Kulimlim,” and “Super Inggo at ang Super Tropa,” among others.
His screenplay “Sanduma: A Rap Opera” was selected as a semifinalist for the Cinemalaya 2024 competition.
His work has been published in UP Diliman’s Likhaan journals and the Philippines Graphic Magazine.
He is an unrepentant dabbler in various other creative fields. During his time as a student at UP Los Baños, where he was born and raised, he was active as a theater actor and as a radio DJ.
