Rey Tamayo, Jr. is a writer, fictionist, instructor, publisher, and filmmaker. He serves as a part-time instructor at La Verdad Christian College – Pampanga Campus and studied at the Polytechnic University of the Philippines–Manila (SPMPF). He has authored several independently published works, including Eklipse: Mga Kuwentong Balintuna (2026), Sa Likod ng Eksena: Mga Dagli (2023), Ugatasya (2022), Tunggalian: Mga Kuwento (2021), and Abo ang Kulay ng Larawan (2019).
His short film Hibik sa Entablado won Best Film in the Cine Filipino Category at the 11th Emirates Film Festival, UAE (2025), and earned him the Best Director Award at the 8th Urduja Film Festival (2024). He also received the Special Jury Prize for the documentary Ang Metamorposis ng Apoy, Tubig at Pag-asa at the 4th CineMaralita Film Festival (2016).
He is a member of the Press Photographers of the Philippines (PPP) and the Cavite Cinemakers Society, and previously served as head writer at Sinag Animation Studios.
