WORKSHOP DIRECTOR

Propesor ng malikhaing pagsulat at panitikan si Eugene Y. Evasco sa Kolehiyo ng Arte at Literatura, Unibersidad ng Pilipinas Diliman. Naging Research Fellow siya sa International Youth Library sa Munich, Germany. Nagwagi siya bilang 2000 Makata ng Taon at 2020 Mananaysay ng Taon mula sa Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino. Ang kanyang Ang Aklatang Pusa(The Cat Library) ay napabilang sa White Ravens List noong 2019. Nagantimpalaan siya ng dalawang Catholic Mass Media Award at dalawang Cardinal Sin Book Award para sa kaniyang mga maikling kuwento at aklat pambata. Siya ay kabilang sa Hall of Fame ng Don Carlos Palanca Memorial Awards for Literature at ginawaran ng Dangal ng Panitikan 2021, isang lifetime achievement award mula sa Komisyon sa Wikang Filipino. Kasalukuyan siyang resident fellow sa Likhaan: UP Institute of Creative Writing. Inilathala ng Scholastic noong 2023 ang kanyang picture book na Pahiyas: Planting Rainbow Seeds at isinalin sa Aleman ng Edition Orient. Sa taong 2024, naparangalan siya ng Certificate of Honour for Writing mula sa International Board on Books for Young People; Gintong Aklat Award for Poetry in Filipino para sa kanyang Lata ng Salaginto: Mga Tulang Pambata; National Book Award para sa antolohiya sa Filipino, at ng dalawang Severino Reyes Honor Medal para sa picture book at storybook.Nagwagi siya ng Gawad Tsanselor para sa Natatanging Mananaliksik sa Filipino noong 2025 at ng UP Artist 3 noong 2026.

 

GUEST PANELISTS

Katte Sabate is the Director of Academic Affairs and an Assistant Professor at Guang Ming College, where she also serves as one of the founding artistic directors of the Guang Ming Theatre Ensemble. A Cum Laude graduate with a BA and MA in Theater Arts from the University of the Philippines – Diliman, she is dedicated to nurturing artist-scholars through socially engaged performance. In addition to her academic work, she is a freelance actor, director, and dramaturg working across theater, television, and film. A member of the Theatre Actors Guild – Philippines, her research and creative work have been presented internationally in Malaysia, Portugal, Singapore, South Korea, and the United States. In 2024, she received an Emerging Scholars award for her research on theatre pedagogy presented at the Arts in Society Conference in South Korea.

Katte advocates for performance as a transformative tool for education, empathy, healing, and understanding.

 

Ralph Jade Tampal is a Muslim theatre artist and Assistant Professor in the Performing Arts Department of Guang Ming College in Tagaytay. He also serves as the Coordinator of the Department of Research and Development and Artistic Director of the Guang Ming Theatre Ensemble. A proud native of Kiamba, Sarangani, he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre from Guang Ming College. A fellow of the 7th Amelia Lapeña-Bonifacio Writer’s Workshop (2023), the 4th Saling Panitik: Palihang Bienvenido Lumbera (2024), the 3rd Palihang Rene O. Villanueva (2025), and the 1st Bangsamoro Writer’s Workshop (2026), Ralph is currently pursuing his MA Malikhaing Pagsulat at the University of the Philippines – Diliman.

A National Honoree of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines in 2025, Ralph is a committed scholar who has presented his research at national and international conferences. His work ranges from cultural and religion-related research to creative works that challenge social norms and popular beliefs. His play ‘Iiman was featured at the Cultural Center of the Philippines’ Pasinaya Festival in 2019 and published in Banwa: Journal of Mindanao Studies by UP Mindanao, while his play The Funeral was staged at the Chiayi Performing Arts Center in Taiwan in 2021. More recently, his monologue Duwaya appeared in the 11th issue of the Bangsamoro Literary Review.
